Miracle Monday – Meet Savannah!

Savannah Baugh is a 4 year old from Albertville, Alabama. She and her family were supposed to be celebrating a fun Memorial Day Weekend when things took a turn for the worst. Savannah was swimming in her family’s pool when she accidentally slid from the shallow end into the deep end. Savannah was underwater for nearly a minute when her cousins were able to bring her to the surface. She was unresponsive, blue in color, and not breathing, but after about 45 seconds, her father was able to her breath again.

Savannah was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama by its critical care team, and after two days in the hospital, she was discharged home and thankfully experienced no complications.

Savannah and her family found comfort in the expert caring staff, and Savannah’s mother Katie said, “The staff was absolutely amazing. They were unbelievable.”

Drowning ranks fifth among the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the U.S. Katie encourages anyone who has ever considered learning CPR to do so. She explains, “If my husband’s actions had not been so quick and effective, Savannah may not be with us today.”
