CHIPS Center Receives More Than $198,000 from Alabama Log a Load for Kids Foundation

The Alabama Log a Load for Kids Foundation donated more than $198,000 to Children’s Hospital Intervention and Prevention Services (CHIPS Center) from their fundraising efforts in 2016. The Capital, Longleaf, Piedmont, Warrior and Wiregrass Districts hold events from April through November as part of a year-long campaign to raise funds for CHIPS Center, including golf tournaments, skeet and dove shoots, trail rides and fishing tournaments. They began their 2017 fundraising efforts with a golf tournament in April 2017.

“Without the partnership of the loggers, CHIPS Center would not have come into existence in 1995. The loggers embraced the needs of the littlest victims of child abuse. They are the voices for these children affected by this silent epidemic,” said Debra Schneider, CHIPS Center Director.

Log a Load is a statewide campaign sponsored by the Alabama Loggers Council and the Alabama Forestry Association. Their goal is to unite loggers, landowners, foresters and wood products manufacturers to benefit Alabama’s critically ill, injured and abused children. Since its inception in 1992, Alabama’s Log a Load program has provided more than $7 million to Children’s Miracle   Network Hospitals in Alabama, including Children’s of Alabama.
