Toy Donation Wish List

Toys play an important role throughout the year in therapeutic play for our patients, but during the holidays they are especially important. No child wants to spend their December fighting an illness or healing from an injury, so our Child Life staff provides toys to help keep our patients’ spirits bright at a number of holiday-themed events. The biggest event of all is our annual Sugar Plum Shop. Sugar Plum Shop is Children’s of Alabama’s program for patients and their families who must spend the holidays at the hospital. This in-hospital toy store allows parents of currently hospitalized patients to “shop”—free of charge—for gifts for their patient child and siblings. As you can imagine, this takes an enormous number of toys! We are incredibly fortunate to have the support of so many people in the community who help host toy drives or make personal toy donations.
