The Westervelt Company Cares for Children’s

Log A Load for Kids is an annual campaign in which loggers and others in the forest products community raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The first Log A Load event in Alabama was hosted in 1992, with proceeds benefiting Children’s of Alabama. The Westervelt Company has been involved since the very beginning, most notedly with its annual Westervelt Lodge Skeet Shoot, held each November. The day of fun and fellowship draws many friends of Westervelt out to Aliceville, AL for a skeet shoot competition and delicious BBQ lunch.

COVID-19 may have cancelled this year’s skeet shoot, but Children’s of Alabama is so grateful that employees and friends of The Westervelt Company are still dedicated to raising funds for Alabama’s kids. Westervelt has taken their fundraising online, and will be accepting donations to their team page through December 15. Donations can be made HERE. Follow their team’s progress HERE.

In 1995, the CHIPS Center (Children’s Hospital Intervention and Preventions Services) was founded, and Log A Load begin supporting this important community resource. Serving as the child abuse clinic for Children’s of Alabama, CHIPS has provided care to more than 9,000 children since its founding. The generosity of Log A Load ensure that CHIPS can provide forensic medical exams, counseling services, and case management for children and families affected by child abuse and neglect.

Thank you, Westervelt, for continuing to support CHIPS and Children’s of Alabama during this challenging time. We look forward to gathering at the Lodge in 2021!
