Samford Phi Mu Supports Children’s of Alabama

It’s been a fall full of Miracles for Phi Mu! The sisters of the Alpha Gamma chapter at Samford University have found many opportunities to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Children’s of Alabama this semester. The school year kicked off with Bonnemu, a philanthropy event inspired by the annual music festival Bonnaroo. Samford students gathered at Railroad Park for a fun night of music and fundraising. Miracle Kid, Richlyn, was even in attendance to rock out and play “duck, duck, goose” with sisters! Thanks to their hard work, Phi Mu raised $9,607 for Children’s of Alabama!

The fun continued with two great service events. First, sisters hosted a Patient Paint Party at their house on campus. Miracle Kids were invited to spend an afternoon painting canvases alongside current collegiates and alumnae. We’ll feature the adorable photos from this event in a future blog post!

Then, as part of Samford’s Greek Serve Day, sisters divided into two groups to serve Children’s of Alabama. One group went to Children’s of Alabama to wash red wagons, which are used to transport patients and their belongings to appointments and procedures. Another group worked to pack patient activity kits, which Child Life Specialists use as a ready-made distraction tool for patients of all ages. Phi Mu sisters were able to pack 250 activity kits in just a few hours! These kits will bring countless smiles to patients at Children’s.

Children’s of Alabama is so grateful for our partnership with Phi Mu Fraternity and the generous, thoughtful sisters of the Alpha Gamma chapter!
